Description

‘The relationship between flowers and music is not just limited to Celebrations…’ Many famous classical composers have been inspired to write compositions dedicated to flowers, for instance:  Waltz of the flowers – Tchaikovsky, Les roses d’lspahan – Fauré,  Daisies – Rachmaninoff, Heidenröslein – Schubert.

We can also find nice examples in other musical genres; Jazz: Honeysuckle rose – Fats Waller, Days of wine and roses – Henri Mancini, Passion flower/A flower is a lovesome thing/Lotus blossom – Billy Strayhorn, Little sunflower – Freddie Hubbard, Wildflower – Wayne Shorter, Petite fleur – Sidney Bechet and many more.

In movies there are several examples, such as Edelweiss – Sound of Music and The Rose – Bette Midler, and of course in popular music:  San Antonio Rose – country and western, Black Orchid – rock and last but not least Tulips from Amsterdam…

I wrote my little Suite dedicated to 5 flowers, in the keys of the first letter of their names and each piece is based on a specific technique. Enjoy!
