Rob and Joris know each other since the late 1980s and have played together in various situations over the years, mostly in the Netherlands. This duo started during the corona crisis in 2020, when Rob and Joris did live stream duo concerts.
JORIS TEEPE is an international working bassist from Amsterdam and has been living in New York since 1992. He has been (and still is) working with many legends and stars in jazz such as Benny Golson, Sonny Fortune and Billy Hart. His longest stint was with Rashied Ali (John Coltrane’s last drummer), with whom he recorded 4 CDs and toured the world for 9 years, between 2000 and 2009.
Pianist ROB VAN BAVEL won several awards, a.o. the second prize at the first “Thelonious Monk Jazzpiano Competition” (Washington D.C.), soloist awards in Germany/Belgium,
the Wessel Ilcken award (Holland) and the Dutch Grammy (Edison). Rob has played regularly with Woody Shaw, Randy Brecker, Johnny Griffin, Gary Willis, among others.
This is a one-mic-recording. Recorded by Sander van der Heide on December 28th, 2021 at Rob van Bavel’s study room. Every track is done in one take with no edits.
